What is coaching?
Coaching is a process by which a client and a coach
collaborate in an ongoing relationship to help the client achieve dramatic
results in the client’s personal and professional life. Through artful
questioning by the coach and self-discovery by the client, the client
discovers who he / she really is, sets values-based goals and executes the
plan with the support, objectivity and accountability of the coach. |
 |
|
Who hires a coach?
Although anyone can be coached, coaching is not for
everyone. Individuals must be ready to work with a coach, be receptive to
self-discovery, and be willing to create an amazing life. If the client is
not willing to move forward or expects the coach to do the work for him or
her, then the client is not ready for coaching. |
 |
|
How long does a coaching
relationship last?
Coach / client relationships can last for many years. I
recommend that the client commit to at least a three-month coaching
relationship so that rapport can be established and progress can be measured
over a reasonable time period. Results are rarely achieved overnight.
Also, coaches may be hired for a specific project or for an unlimited period
of time. |
 |
|
What is the difference
between coaching and consulting?
Coaching is not consulting. Consulting is oriented in
advising and delivery. Coaching is about asking the right questions so that
the client discovers his or her own answers at his or her own pace. In the
coaching relationship, the client takes the responsibility for moving
forward.
Although many consultants also have thriving coaching
practices, not all consultants are coaches and not all coaches are
consultants. If working with a coach that also consults, it is important to
be very clear which service you are requesting at the beginning of the
relationship. |
 |
|
What is the difference
between coaching and therapy?
Coaching is not therapy. Therapy is about healing the past
so that the client can move forward. Most therapy questions are oriented in
the “why”. Coaching is about moving forward from the present. Most
coaching questions are oriented in the “who”, “what” and “how”.
Although many therapists also have thriving coaching
practices, not all therapists are coaches and not all coaches are
therapists. When selecting a coach, it is important to understand the
coach’s background, professional coach training, certification status and
affiliations with professional coaching organizations. |

Here is an example of how
one of my clients has benefited from coaching...
"Prior to your coaching, my life, both personal and business, was lived on
the basis of chaos... I had very little structure and organization, was very
stressed and although I got the job done, it was never easy...With your help
and guidance you have shown me how many of my goals and desires in life are
all tied together, and that by working in harmony, I can achieve the goals
and balance in my life without all the struggle...I just wanted to thank you
for guiding me down the path and look forward to even more improvement as we
continue to work together."

How do you initiate
a coaching relationship?
The first step is to call me at
(610) 789-8634. During an initial coaching session, we will
mutually determine if a coaching relationship is appropriate. If so, I
will send out a client intake packet to you that will be
the basis for the ongoing coaching relationship. You will fill out the
intake packet, send it back to me, and we will schedule ongoing coaching
sessions so that we can move forward with the relationship. |
